KEVO ingredient - Shea Butter: What is it?
Shea Butter is made from the nuts of the Shea trees (Viterllaria paradox) of Africa. Shea Butter has been used for centuries in the cultures of Africa for many purposes such as, healing salve, skin lotion, hair conditioner, cooking oil, and more. Modern studies have proven Shea butter effective in UV protection, wrinkle minimization, cell regeneration and capillary circulation. KEVO ingredient - Beeswax
Beeswax is one of the first raw materials man used. It's origins go back to ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. Beeswax was man's first plastic, cosmetic & medicinal material. It is a slightly tacky substance, and flexible plasticizer. Free fatty acids add to the emulsifiability, which saponify with alkalies. Beeswax has anti-microbial properties which make it suitable for some medicinal applications. Here at KEVO Naturals we are very grateful to the bees for this byproduct of their honey production and use it in our all natural lip balms. In the future we will be exploring other recipes that will mix beeswax into hand lotions, creams and moisturizers.



KEVO ingredient - Jojoba Oil:
Native to the southwestern United States and Mexico, Jojoba has been used for centuries as a skin and hair conditioner. Studies have shown antibacterial Jojoba oil moisturizes skin and hair, encourages new cell growth, does not block pores and balances sebum of the skin. Other uses for Jojoba oil include a healing salve for sores and wounds, treatment for canker sores, cold sores, athlete's foot and warts, as well as a soothing massage oil.
Jojoba oil has been shown to promote healing of the skin and have antimicrobial properties. It has a chemical composition that is very close to our natural sebum so it absorbs easily and synergizes well with most people. Jojoba oil is actually a liquid wax yet it will not block pores. Nutrients in Jojoba oil include vitamin E, B complex vitamins and the minerals silicon, chromium, copper and zinc. It also contains iodine which explains its antimicrobial properties.



KEVO ingredient - Lavender Oil
Lavender Oil is probably the most popular essential oil ever. This is because almost everyone like the aroma. But equally important are the qualities of the oil. It has been used for centuries to treat skin ailments, especially heat burns. The ancient Greeks and Romans used lavender oil for its antiseptic healing qualities as well as the perfume it offers.
Lavender oil has been proven in laboratory tests and clinical studies to help in the regeneration of skin tissue and because of these qualities it is one of our favorites here at KEVO.



KEVO ingredient - Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is prized for it's anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties as well as it's enzyme rich and vitamin rich composition. It contains a host of vitamins including C and B complex that our tissues crave. Aloe Vera contains Lignin, a cellulose based substance allowing it to penetrate the skin and carry nutrients to the cells. These nutrients take out toxins, increase blood flow and flush away dead tissue from damaged skin. It is also a keratolytic, meaning it breaks down and softens hard skin. Aloe Vera has been used to help conditions external and internal but for our purposes will note it is used to regenerate healthy skin, treat burns, wounds, infections and eczema just to name a few.



Essential Oils in General
Throughout history essential oils have been used as medicines, tinctures and perfumes. (Think Frankincense and Myrrh from the Bible). Essential Oils are extracted from plants and plant matter such as fruits, bark, and leaves. In some cases different oils can be distilled or pressed from different parts of the same plant.
Modern science has proven that essential oils have many medicinal properties with little to no side effects. There is no residue that remains in the body the way chemical drugs leave behind damaging substances. Further studies have shown that most viruses, fungi and bacteria cannot live in the presence of many essential oils.
For our purposes at KEVO, we look to use oils in our products that have been proven to encourage cell production and improvement in the skin.





Frequently Asked Questions

1) With no chemical preservatives in KEVO Naturals products, how long will they stay fresh? Generally, natural components such as the ingredients in KEVO Naturals^® products will last about two years when stored in a cool dry place.

2) Where are KEVO Naturals products made? We are based in Southern California and produce our products here.

3) My dog was eating my KEVO Naturals Body Butter, will he be OK? Our products are not made for consumption and are not tested on animals. That said, our products are all natural and the ingredients are often used for food or in food preparation. If you have concerns, contact your veterinarian.

4) What makes KEVO Naturals products better than other 'all natural' products? Here at KEVO Naturals^® we use only plant based materials. This is because we adhere to the simple belief that people are water based organisms and therefore we should use water based substances for our personal care. Other companies use petroleum based ingredients such as mineral oil, or chemical additives and preservatives. Putting these things in or on our bodies is trying to mix water and oil

5) I like supporting small businesses with integrity and positive vision. My old favorite maker of natural personal care products sold out to a big chemical manufacturer, who owns KEVO Naturals? KEVO Naturals^® is a privately held company founded and owned by Brad Glynn and his story can be found on our website under 'US.'

6) I have heard that your company plans to expand it's product line, when will that occur and what products will be added? You heard correctly! We are in the process of researching and testing new products that will make KEVO Naturals^® a more influential voice in the world of all natural personal care products. In the development stage we have cuticle and eye creams, soaps and shampoos, an entire line of home cleaning products, and we are particularly excited about our upcoming line of baby care products.

7) Will natural products be more or less likely to cause rashes? There are differing theories on this question throughout the personal care industry. While natural products are not inherently hypoallergenic, we do believe they work with our bodies better than manufactured chemicals. It is our belief that if someone should experience a reaction with an all natural product, it is the chemical toxic build up being pushed out of the cells by the natural ingredients as the body seeks homeostasis. If you experience any discomfort from a KEVO Naturals^® product first see your physician then notify KEVO Naturals so that we may investigate it.

8) Do you offer tours of your factory? At this time the floor plan of our facility does not allow us to host tours. Because of the interest however, we may include facility tours in our future plans. Thank you for your interest.

9) I have noticed slight differences in your skin butter sometimes when I buy a new one, why is this? Slight differences occur in our products because each batch of raw material will have variances. These differences occur because of changes in weather and other conditions that affect the harvest of our raw materials, in the same way fruit crops vary from season to season. These variances however, are small and do not effect the high quality of our products.
